Books

To check whether we have a particular book, please visit the KGH Library Catalogue, or use the Book tab on Resource Search

Can’t find what you’re looking for? We may have it available as an e-book, or you could use our request service our request service to order a copy from elsewhere.

Borrowing, renewing and returning items

Most members can have up to 10 items at any one time. The loan period for most items is 2 weeks or 6 weeks. Items can be renewed as long as someone else has not reserved a copy, and will be auto-renewed up to a max of 12 weeks.

You can return items to a member of library staff, use the self-service terminal, or place in the Book Returns box.

Items reserved by another reader that become overdue will be recalled, and there is a penalty charge of £10 if a recall letter is sent to you.  Note that if you accrue £10 in total late return fees, you will not be able to borrow or renew any items until they are paid off.

Reserving items

You can reserve books that are on loan or on the shelf across KGH Library using the reservation facility on the KGH Library Catalogue.

We will hold reserved books for five working days for collection.

Leisure Collection & Book Clubs

We also have collections of leisure reading books in our library, that include a range of novels, biographies and non-fiction titles.

We accept donations of good quality books, so please feel free to pass on to us titles you’ve enjoyed and want to share with colleagues.

We have a UHN Leadership Book Club looking at books themed around leadership.  New members are always welcome.

Find new and past reviews of the books discussed on our Book Review page.

Healthy Lives Collection

We have a range of books and other resources to help you manage your own health, and that of your family. These include books on stress, parenting, mindfulness, exercise and much more.
